How to get there
Isle of Wight car ferries operate from Lymington to Yarmouth (Wightlink), Southampton to East Cowes (Red Funnel) and Portsmouth to Fishbourne (Wightlink), with additional passenger only services provided by high speed catamarans and hovercraft from Southampton to Cowes and Portsmouth or Southsea to Ryde.

The cottages are located approximately 5 miles south of Newport, the Islands main town.

From Newport drive to Rookley on the A3020, turn right and head for Chale Green passing the Chequers Inn.
Turn right at the crossroads, still on the Chale road turn first right at the sign to North Appleford and follow the hard based gravel track for three quarters of a mile.

Nearby
Nearby is the Chequers Inn - a good local pub with excellent children's facilities, a courtesy bus and horse riding.

In Chale Green, 2 miles away, there is a General Store & Post Office and in Chale a petrol station and the White Mouse family pub. The odd bus leaves Leechmore Corner approximately 1 mile away.

In Rookley you can find a General Store and the Rookley Inn.

5 miles away, Newport has banks, supermarkets and main high street shops.

The surrounding countryside is ideal for walking and cyclingActivities
With a network of footpaths and bridleways, the Isle of Wight is reputed to have more footpaths per square mile than any other county.

North Appleford Cottages are located at the heart of this path network with the Worsley Trail accessed nearby. The cottages make an ideal base for a walking holiday. For mountain bikes, extensive bridle paths traverse some of the Isle of Wights most dramatic scenery. Cyclists will enjoy some beautiful country lanes and an increasing number of cycle tracks.

Just south at Chale, the Isle of Wight's 60mile Coastal Path can accessed, providing the most spectacular walking.

There is also a well marked 'Round the island' cycle route which can be easily followed by those wanting to ride round the island.

You can also enjoy course fishing on the farm lake.
